FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I come from a musical family and, as a child, just assumed that everyone did music. I chose to sing in every choir available in school and picked out a variety of instruments to play, settling on the cello. I started private voice lessons in my late teens and also did a variety of teaching work including classroom music teaching for 4 to 16 year olds, directing two children's choirs and latterly teaching sight-singing and ear training at the college level as well as giving private lessons.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with students to help them build confidence in their singing ability and to build upon the positive aspects of an individual's voice.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

People often assume that classical singer means opera singer. Sure, most of us sing and teach arias from operas and some of us get to be in them from time to time but there is so much more to being a classical singer. Some specialize in cabaret songs, some in classic show tunes from the great American song book, others in early music and some in 20th and 21st century music. There are soloists and ensemble singers. Some like presenting art song in recitals, others like to be part of choirs or chamber ensembles. I personally enjoy a bit of all of the above. I like versatility.
