I am a full-service wedding officiant with 13+ years' experience celebrating weddings across the region.
I simply love what I do, and besides being a wife and mother, I can think of nothing I'd rather do with my time.
I would consider it a great honor to serve you on your wedding day!
My philosophy about weddings is that each wedding ceremony is a completely unique creation.
Your ceremony may contain contemporary and traditional elements of your choosing, as well as the inspired, unique elements that we create together.
No two couples are ever the same.
The ceremony is fashioned for you alone.
Your unique story, your families, your cultural and religious heritages, as well as the elements that already became meaningful to you as adults can all be honored in your wedding ceremony.

What a lifesaver Rev Kirsten was. I met her online in a wedding chat room and she offered advice when I asked it. We met in person soon afterwards and she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable with my choices. We had a relatively unconventional wedding that most people might have been scared away from, but she didn't even bat an eyelash! (Goth!) Everyone loved her delivery and it made our day more special when she included our daughter in the wedding--even though we never even mentioned her in the initial meetings! We're glad we chose her and really recommend her highly!

Rev. Kirsten was truly a God-send! We found her after searching many websites and it seemed like everyone was just out there to "make a buck"! She didn't nickle and dime us and though we asked for a lot, her fee was very fair and comparable for the area. She arrived early for our wedding, ran through the logistics with our wedding party and conducted the most beautiful service I have ever been to...and I am glad it was mine! We had so many guests ask us if she knew us beforehand because it really seemed as if she'd known us all our lives. I can't thank her enough and I consider us lucky to have found her to be a part of the biggest day of our lives!

Kirsten was a perfect fit for our wedding. She has a wonderful speaking voice and she really tailored our wedding to fit what we wanted. She did such an excellent job that she also officiated at my sister's wedding, my parent's vow renewal and will soon be doing the same for my cousin's wedding. I couldn't have found a more perfect fit for us. Thanks Kirsten!

Rev. Kirsten was the first to contact us when we were getting married last year. She was a BIG help throughout all the planning and on our wedding day, she delivered the most beautiful ceremony we could ever have asked for. Everyone complimented us on our choice and we were so pleased with out decision to ask her to marry us. She speaks well and with enthusiasm and grace. We are expecting our first child in a few months and we are looking forward to having her join us again for his/her baptism! We highly recommend Rev. Kirsten for your wedding or other special event. She will bring a lot of joy to your day!

I met Rev Kirsten almost 4 years ago when looking for someone to officiate my daughter's baptism at our home. She was wonderful to talk to, took time to figure out exactly what we wanted, and she delivered on it all! So much that, we had her officiate our sons baptism last year as well. If we only would've known Rev Kirsten 8 years ago when we got married, we definitely would've used her for that as well! And in another 3 years we may use her again ..... Thanks so much Kirsten!

Kristen really provides a lovely, personalized service. She's just amazing! I can't say enough good things about her. She speaks beautifully, and with emotion. She really involves herself with the ceremony, the couple, and if there is one, with the audience. We were married on New Year's Eve, and she was the most perfect person to marry us.

Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. I am most often called upon to serve as a wedding officiant but I am always prepared to lead a funeral or memorial service as well as a baptism/baby blessing, house blessing, blessing of the fleet, etc. I believe we need ritual to fully engage in our lives with one another and my job is to help lead those rituals. I LOVE this part of my life!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I have the opportunity to share one of the most important days of their life together. Then, as years pass, I am even further honored to share in the blessing/baptism of their children and to be with them in some of the darkest times as family members pass on.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Besides "What's your rate?", most often it's "Do you keep in touch?" and my answer is, "Yes! I do keep in touch if the couple wants to as well!" I love being a part of a family's traditions and life story!
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I was contacted about 5 years ago by a bride's mother searching for an officiant. We hit it off and I married this daughter. A few years later and I married their other daughter. Another year or so later and I renewed the parents' wedding vows and now I am on track to officiate for a cousin and perform a baby blessing too! How's that for a good track record? I LOVE being a part of a family's memories!
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. For most officiants/celebrants that are not affiliated with a full congregation, this is not a full-time profession. For me, besides my family, it is!
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. I had the honor of officiating a service for a "wounded warrior" who'd recently returned from battle with significant injuries. What a sweet disposition in spite of the traumas he'd endured!
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. I have always been a great supporter of Marriage Equality. 2011 saw good advancements in the law to allow same-sex marriage in my home state of Maryland, but it did not pass entirely. It should return to the committee floor in the next session and I remain hopeful that soon ALL Marylanders could enjoy marriage without regard to their gender! In the meantime, nearby in DC same-sex marriage has been legal since March 2010 and I am proud to say that I am a DC registered officiant and am pleased to provide services to ALL sorts of couples! I even offer an "AVP" or Application Via Proxy to allow for couples from out of the area to submit an application for their license through me so that they do not have to incur the travel expense or waiting period required to get their DC license! AND--as of April 14th, Civil Unions were approved in Delaware! So..it's coming.....and we'll get there, by and by...
