I was a client for more than a year; decided to kick it up and sought more services to include 3 - 4 additional services. I was provided a quote for an obscene amount and asked for an itemized service quote... she's an accountant, right? When I asked for an itemized detailed report of for the cost of the service and labor, suddenly she can't move forward. Waste of my time but strong indication I was getting overcharged. God's redirection is on my side here.

I am so sorry, Michelle, for canceling your project. I see from your review that you are upset. I believe that my pricing was way below market. Business recordations from third-party vendors go from $1500 on up, and my quote for $900 is a drop in the bucket. If it weren't for a contracted client audit notification, I would have clearly finished my explanation of my pricing and taken on your project. My listed price for business recordings was originally $500, which included the service fees to the states. You were doing three. So, to minimize it to $900, I think, was a bargain. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but there is no malicious intent. Praise God, for He does all things well. Good luck to you in all your future endeavors.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For accounting services, I charge by the hour. I also have a flat rate for projects as well. For income tax preparation I have a flat fee and an hourly rate as well.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process is to have a conversation with them about their business or about them individually. I find out why they are seeking my services. I then tell them about myself and my practice. I give them a rundown of the services that would fit them and the price. We complete the informational forms and go from there. My goal is to help my clients feel that they have selected the best service provider for their job.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an associate's degree in paralegal studies. I have a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business with a focus in accounting. I am an IRS Annual Filing Season Program participant and I am currently a candidate to take the CPA exam. I hope to complete this by the end of 2021.
