We got an email from a satisfied customer:

Wendell and Christine,

Our yard looks amazing! I was so pleased when I came home and saw that the grass had been cut just in time for my family's Easter dinner. The grass looks the best ever.

I wanted to let you know that we have received a lot of compliments from the neighbors on how beautiful our yard looks. One of our neighbors said it looks like a lush carpet. It makes you want to take off your shoes and walk through it.

I was pleased to see that you had put out a sign advertising your services. I hope it brings you lots of new business. Our yard certainly speaks to the quality of your services.

Thanks,

Ron and Diann Fugitt

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Design/Build and maintenance of their lawns/ flower beds.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Are they professional, quality oriented, and friendly and eager to solve your problems.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. People are always asking me to provide a low/minimal maintenance landscape design. There are lots of new plants that are hardier, bloom longer and need very little maintenance. Winter blooming camellias are just one that most varieties need very little maintenance once established. They are evergreen, bloom in the winter in numerous forms of blossoms from singles to peony or rose form blossoms. They generally do not need to be pruned and grow in a cone or global shape.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our attention to detail, every job we do for our cusotmers is the same as we would do on our own property.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Creating a functional, relaxing, aesthitically pleasing enviroment for our clients.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What steps do we need to take to improve our lawns or flower beds? The combination of a good fertilizer program, irrigation, and proper cutting all help to enhance the lush, vigorous health and appearance of your lawn.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Always loved flowers and plants. Love creating beautiful and functional outdoor living spaces. So many varieties of plants have been improved and bloom periods extended that we frequently do designs that every plant blooms at some point during the year. As opposed to plants that have insignificant blooms and are generally just green.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. We are utilizing many native and habitat restoration plants to solve many problems in our landscape. Wet basements, drainage issues can be solved utilizing bio-retention areas and rain gardens. Not only do these plants solve drainage issues but provide habitat for birds, butterflies, beneficial insects.
