Amie was amazing to work with as our wedding photographer. I planned my wedding from another state so I initially contacted her through email. She responded quickly and seemed really excited to shoot what would end up being a pretty offbeat wedding. Instead of sending me a rigid list of services and rates like I was sent by another photographer, Amie asked me what I wanted. I told her and she sent me a price quote - which was really reasonable.
She was on time the day-of the wedding and from the get-go she was a total professional. She got more shots than I thought were even possible during our short ceremony and I didn't even notice her moving around. Maybe she's a ninja, I don't know.
We weren't posed awkwardly for the wedding party photos. It felt natural and was a really easy process with her direction. She even kept her cool when some random tourists insisted they be in a few pictures.
She didn't photograph anyone eating at the reception, which was really thoughtful. She caught all of the important moments beautifully, like the first dance, cake cutting, and my ridiculous family doing shots of whiskey before dinner. She photographed all of the little details so well and got amazing candid pictures of pretty much every guest.
She turned around our disc of photos just a few days after we got back from the honeymoon and I was really impressed by that!
All in all, I'm really glad we booked her.

Amie shot a portrait session for my wedding. She was very professional and gave us great instruction; she also really put us at ease despite our nervousness. We had a lot of family to include, and she was also very graceful about corralling all of them. And, of course, her pictures are gorgeous--she's obviously very, very talented and we feel very lucky to have found her.

Amie recently photographed our wedding in downtown Baltimore. She impressed both me and my husband as well as our families. She was so professional and ALWAYS at the right place at the right time. She captured so much emotion and energy in her photos. She made us so comfortable and was always getting right in the action to get great photographs. We absolutely loved our wedding photos and could not be any happier about hiring Aime! Again, we were beyond impressed with her!

I am a musician from Philadelphia who was lucky to work with Amie. It was probably one of the hottest, and stickiest days I have ever in Phila. We took some regular awesome shots, on the beautiful landscape of the Phila Art museum, but the best shots came out when we jumped into the fountain. She had noo qualms about getting wet, (although we made sure her camera didn't suffer) and as a result got the coolest shots. Her prices are VERY agreeable, and shes a cool girl just to hang out with nonetheless. She let me be myself and have the freedom to see what worked and what didn't. Her openness and laid back approach really worked for me. Can't wait to work with her again in the near future!

We hired Amie for our wedding on June 11, 2011 and she is an amazing photographer. She was very flexible when I asked her to stay an hour longer then planned, and she took amazing photos. There wasn't one photo that my husband and I didn't like. We couldn't have asked for more. I would recommend Amie to everyone.

I want to write a glowing recommendation for Amie!
Amie was a joy to work with from start to finish. My fiancé and I used her for an engagement photo shot in June and loved Amie's creativity and positive energy. She was quick to respond to my e-mails and very good about keeping in touch. We spend a Sunday afternoon in Federal Hill and Patterson Park and got received some great photos. Within a week Amie edited our photos (almost 500 of them!) and we received a 2-CD set...including both a slide show set to music as well a CD of the jpeg photos.
Amie's fees are very reasonable and I was impressed with how quickly we got our photos. Thanks Amie, you rock :)

I contacted Amie to take pictures of my two horses in their natural environment, which was tricky because of weather and the fact that animals rarely do what you want them to do. Amie did a wonderful job photographing my horses! They were completely at ease with her presence and I could see their personalities reflected in her photos, which is exactly what I wanted.
Amie was a pleasure to work with, very professional and she delivered exactly what she promised. I would highly recommend her.

I own Fusion Grill, a restaurant in Washington DC. www.FusionGrillDC.com. Found Amie on Craigslist to help me do some food photography for our menu/website. Came out to my restaurant and did a fantastic job. She was extremely prompt, courteous, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Even though she has never done food photography, she did an excellent job. Check out some of the pictures on our website www.FusionGrillDC.com.
Highly Recommended A+!

I found Amie after our original wedding photographer botched our wedding pictures. She did a terrific job of touching up the pictures, considering what she was given to work with. I only wish I would have found her prior to our wedding, because she definitely would have been hired to be our photographer instead! We are looking forward to having a portrait session with her in the spring!

My pictures turned out great, despite all my daughters efforts against this. Amie was very patient and certainly captured the best angle's possible. Kids are definitely not easy subjects, especially grumpy toddlers. Thanks so much!

A. Why Does Custom Photography Cost More?
Article by: Marianne Drenthe
The digital revolution has brought amazing flexibility and ability to control various factors during the image taking and making process. Photographers, the hobbyist, the professional, the amateur all benefit from this ability to manipulate pixels. However, with flexibility comes a price. Digital camera equipment is still considerably more expensive when you factor in its' lifespan, the need for additional resources for processing those images, the time it takes to get a usable image and the effort that goes into creating a work of photographic art. We all know that you can go to the local Walgreen's and pay a $1.99 for a print – as a client you may wonder why you may pay upwards of $50, $70, $90 for a custom photography print. Photographers hear this statement every once in awhile:
"How in the world can you charge $60 for an 8×10 if it costs me less than $2 to print at x store?"
The truth of the matter is the answer to this question is multifaceted. Much of the cost of a photographic print produced by a professional photographer has a lot to do with the time, equipment costs, artistic vision and reputation of the photographer not to mention expertise and the usual costs of running a legitimate business. The cost of TIME Approaching it from a time standpoint, let's imagine that you have hired a photographer who has work that you love. This photographer is traveling an hour to your destination to photograph your session. Here is an example of a time break down:
booking time: 30 minutes to one hour (client contact time + paperwork)
pre-session prep time (30 mins – 1 hour, includes equipment and back up equipment checks + vehicle checks)
one hour travel time TO session
15-30 minutes prep time at client's home
90 minutes-2 hours with client photographing subject
one hour travel time FROM session
30-45 minutes uploading time from digital cards from camera to computer
30-45 minutes time spent backing up the original images
2-5 hours editing time to present you with a diverse gallery of edited images
1 hour prep time getting ready for ordering
2-3 hours time with client for ordering images
1 hour sorting through and checking order
30 minutes-1 hour prep time for delivery
30 minutes-1 hour getting order shipped
any additional phone time or time needed for add on ordering, shipment issues, quality issues
In this example, the time spent per client can range from just under 13 hours to 19 hours – dependent on the photographer's level of service. This is time dedicated only to ONE session. When the photographer charges $150-$300 for the photo shoot (aka SESSION FEE) you are not just paying for the two hours of session time, you are paying the photographer for 12-19 hours complete time for your session.
A. Where will my session take place?
Once we've confirmed your session date and time, next is time to choose the location of our shoot. We may decide on your home, a park, the city or another favorite spot, where you or your child(ren) will feel comfortable to be themselves! For engagement photos, places where you had your first kiss or first date might be great places to start.
A. What kind of outfits should I wear?
Keep in mind that our session time will allow for "wardrobe" changes if that is something you had in mind.
For newborns, there is nothing as cute as a birthday suit, or simple diaper cover and perhaps a fun hat or headband. For toddlers and older children, solid colors and simple patterns are best - try to avoid logos and other distracting images on clothing. For family shots, a coordinated effort is great, without necessarily being overly matching. Whether classic or quirky, the clothing your child and family chooses should best reflect their personality.
A. How soon do I usually get the images?
After your session, I begin to edit and prepare your images. Within a few days, I usually will send you a few sneak peek photos; so you can see how the process is going. After that, you should receive your CD of images no later than three weeks; while prints may take a little longer.
