Introduction: Hi, my name is Andrea Bridgewater-McCarthy, and I am an educator. I have taught elementary students for over 12 years. Teaching is my passion and healthcare is my second love. I earned a master's degree in Human Services with a concentration in Health and Wellness. Many years ago, I thought about opportunities that would merge both of my interests, and CPR was the perfect fit. I have taught CPR classes for 3 years, and I love every minute of it. I love how applying CPR principles and First Aid skills all make sense. What I love most about CPR is empowering others to be confident in their trained abilities to help those who are unable to help themselves. With my experience as an educator, I believe that students not only walk away with a 2-year certification to satisfy a job requirement, but they also walk away with an understanding of their value as a community member, a colleague, a friend, and a family member (from the macro level to the micro level). We need more individuals in this world who will be willing to step up and move beyond a kind gesture to a life saver. It takes a takes a special kind of person to sacrifice for the well-being of others, and I want to be a part of building this type of society.
