I've been a DJ for over thirty years, and I love what I do.

When working with young couples planning a wedding reception is when I believe I am at my best. I love being part of what they envision should be the perfect day.

I provide all the emceeing and a light show, upon request, at no extra charge. My fees are all inclusive.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Other than weddings or parties, I also do fundraisers. I recently deejayed an event called, "Relay for Life" at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. It was a 12 hour event of which I deejayed the entire event. It's a great event and the kids were great.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I would advise them to look for someone with experience and references. Ask them about their equipment, if it is professional equipment. And finally if they're willing to travel and how far they're willing to go.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. One major question that is sometimes overlooked is; does the DJ that they are looking to hire have "back-up" equipment? If they do not, be polite during the meeting process, but afterwards move on.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Because of my experience and love of what I do.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Meeting and being part of something different and special at every event. I also believe that a hands on approach is much better than the phone or internet.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. First, how long have I been a DJ, and I respond with the appropriate year.
Second, what is my basic approach to a reception? My response to this is usually whatever they want from me, I can talk as little or as much as they like. I think that they and the music should be the attraction, not me.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite story happens every weekend that I'm on the road doing what I love to do. When the evening is over and I'm talking and saying my goodbyes with the couple that were just married and they till me "everything" went just as they had wanted and that they had a great time. There are no better stories than that.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. When I was a teenager growing up in Germany, my father was in the military. I needed something to do, I met this DJ named Bob Scott, he was cool and I later found out he needed some help. So I started to go to gigs with him learning the trade and got hooked. So much so that here I am 33 years later still DJing and doing what I love to do.
