We are very happy that we hired Gilson Home Renovations. We hired Shawn to change the layout of our kitchen, fix water damage to the bathroom floor and turn our sun room into a mudroom. We wanted to install the cabinets and flooring ourself so we asked him to basically prep the spaces for what we had planned. He did a great job and rolled with the punches when there were problems (water damage to sunroom walls and more extensive demo the originally thought). His quote and the final cost were spot on. Our neighbors commented that they appreciated him not leaving a messy work site. His work was great and he clearly knows what he is doing. We will certainly hire him again for our future projects.

Mr. Gilson was very responsive to the request. We had the estimate within a couple of days and the work was done within a week. He kept in touch on what he was working on. The work itself was outstanding. I work recommend him without reservation.

Shawn Gilson did an excellent job installing a window frame and shelf in our kitchen and a new backsplash in the bathroom. We got a very fast response from him. He was able to accommodate our busy schedule and came in and gave an estimate and completed the job within a week from initial contact. He offers excellent quality work, very economically priced and in a very timely manner. Shawn is friendly, respectful and professional. We will be using his services in the future and highly recommend him to others.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been doing this type of work for as long as I can remember. I helped build my mother's house when I was about 16 years old and I was hooked. I also love to do woodworking in my spare time building custom furniture. It is so fun to start from scratch and build something awesome.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My in-laws recently purchased their "dream home" which had all of the elements they had always wanted, but needed a complete remodel. I was able to sit down with them, come up with a plan, and transformed the house into a home.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for a builder or contractor who is licensed and insured and who will take the time to really listen to your ideas. A great contractor will respond to phone calls and emails in a timely manner and provide a quote fairly quickly.
