Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. The most common jobs are re-painting occupied and unoccupied residential and commercial sites. We specialize in transformation of "drab to fab". We also work with management companies, investors and real estate agents in helping them transform foreclosed houses into homes.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. To take notes either written or by memorization. How long it takes for the initial return call. How soon they are able to provide a quote. How long a company has been in business. If they are insured. If the company has good follow-up and does what they say they are going to do. All in a timely manner.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. All four corners are covered with the painters/craftsman that we hire. We are multi-talented in many different home improvements services. Yes, our team players work in tandem, this creates a pleasant atmosphere and productivity is increased. Inside secret? Our painters do not use tape to cut around trim, they have a talented, steady stroke that insures a solid straight cut line...
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. The only important thing the customer should know, is if they are ready to have a painting project started and if their budget allows it. The rest of the work is left up to the potential company they are seeking. The quote should be done on site and not over the phone. We do not like to under bid nor over bid. Our bids are fair.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Creative Painters Plus - from ceiling to floor & more...has a proven track record of satisfied clients throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb Counties. Our pro-painters
are talented, timely, honest, neat and clean. We only hire painters with 15 years or more experience and they are multi-talented in all areas of home improvements. This enables the customer one company that does all the work, so they do not have to hire multiple companies for painting, wood floor restoration, wholesale flooring etc. We also have a complimentary desinger who specializes in helping the client choose the correct colors.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. We enjoy seeing the satisfaction of creating a drab home or business and making it fabulous! Our team takes pride in the work they do and it shows with the end result. So, in a nut shell - our portfolio proves what a project looks like before and after. Seeing a customer smile and refer business is a priveledge and we are blessed! Our color consultant has an inate skill that most painters do not possess. Again, we are greatful...
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. A common question is.."Are your painters neat and clean?". This is an important one. Because a painter that preps exceptional, generally is a exceptional painter. It is quite simple, the best preppers are the best painters. Also, another question is..."Are they timely?". Time is money to the customer, the painter and the paint company that they are representing. Efficency, professionalism, talent are main ingredients that produce a solid core of Creative Painters Plus. Another question is... "Are you insured?". Yes we are. This protects them and us.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. We have many favorite stories. Some of them, that come to mind, is the difference that we make in the look, feel and character of a home or business. Color (painting) is the least expensive way to transform the "look" of a home.
I love having the children invloved in color consultation. They feel a part in making their room's personalized!
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. The fact that we are not just another paint company. We have melded together painters/craftsman and a designer who all take a part in making the job run smooth. This entails from the initial contact to the end result. I have a reputation of being one of the best color consultants in the industry for the least expensive price. If we are awarded the job, it is absolutely free. We provide the total package of service, price and quality. We realize all consumers work hard for their money and deserve a job that serves them well.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. My grandmother was a professional artist who made a good living, selling her works. I enjoyed many years of watching her create magic. It is amazing how color creates moods and character. I love being a owner of my destiny!
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. We worked on a multi-million dollar home in Grosse Pointe Shores. It intailed out of date, floral paper throughout. We stripped the paper, created a neutral color scheme and when the customer hung his expensive artwork, "the home came to life"!. He is a prominant restaurant owner in Metro Detroit and now he wants us to beautify his business. Needless to say, we have established another good business relationship!
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Yes, I am working on another certificate for interior design. I feel the more educated I am, the customer will feel more comfortable hiring an established, educated service worker. The additional certification also establishes trust in a business relationship. Ongoing education is a must with me and my employees.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. The latest developments are the types of products that can be applied to create a regular floor into artwork. The metallics, suede, sand stone paints are also some of the up and coming requests. The paint manufacturers are becoming more "green". This ensures healther home owners, painters and landfills.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. We just completed an interior that involved: stripping paper, glue, minor repairs of plaster and painting. Nine larger scale rooms were invloved. I had a team of 3 painters. The job paid out $4,200 and took 4 days to complete. The home owner is awarding us another commercial painting project!
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. There is nothing complicated about our pricing. It is cut and dry - fair and square. The first initial visit is explained simply. "If you are looking for the cheapest price, most likely we may not be the Painting Company that you will hire". Generally, the cheapest price you will experience a lack of service and possibly quality, if not both".
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Always answer your phone live. Do what you say you are going to do. Be fair. In order to be successful, hire master painters and pay them well and on time. This will ensure a return customer or a referral in the long run. All of these ingredients trickle to the customer, which in turn keeps the business thriving.
