Private Guitar Lessons

Introduction: I'm a full-time musician, guitar teacher, session player and songwriter living in the Detroit area. I'm the lead guitar player and songwriter for the Detroit-based soul and alt rock band. I also tour with different artists and do studio session work at Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, Mi. My teaching background: I have a degree from Michigan State University and have been teaching guitar privately for over 10 years. I currently teach over 35 students per week. I am a very patient and experienced teacher, and I enjoy working with students of all ages and skill levels. I also have several students that would be happy to speak to you as a reference for me. Just email me and ask for a reference list. My teaching philosophy: I teach the fundamental concepts and techniques of music in a clear and concise manner. I teach all styles of guitar playing (Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Classical). I also play by ear, so I'm able to teach my students the songs they want to learn (just bring a CD or ipod with you to lessons). I teach a balanced mix of music theory, technique, songs, and most importantly I make sure it's fun for my students. Location and lesson policy: My students do half hour or hour lessons each week.
