Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Residential homes are the most common jobs;interior rooms-plaster,sand,prime,and two coats of paint. Sometimes multi-color for ceiling, trim, and windows.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Don't waste any time. Our prices are reduced for the economy. Also we provide excellent customer service.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. How can I make the right choice for a painting company. Being the second generation painter, I learned from my dad(a painter of 40 yrs+)the importance of a fine quality job with attention to detail. Painting is our family business. We have been trusted by many for several years and never a dissatisfied customer.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Yes those things are very helpful but we also give free estimates and can handle that for the guest; making their job a lot easier and simple.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I have been in business since 1990, a family owned business who takes great concern in their work and quality. Customer service is number one. We have free tv promos, senior discounts, and a totally professional crew. Our rates are unbeatable and we beat all deals.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I like the face of a satisfied customer and of course the benefits and families it feeds.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. How expensive is it? We offer the best price in the market plus extras you don't usually get for free.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. When I was 12 years old my dad taught me how to plaster and sand. It was kind of fun at the time.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. I was top sales(executive club) and an assistant manager in clinton twp. at Art Van Furniture for 14 years; I decided to venture into my own business. I have a bachelors in psychology from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor where I played some football. I would like to eventually get a master's in business.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. It's in my family. I followed in my dad's footsteps and I enjoy the business.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. I painted a home with a two story ceiling that was quite a challenge. Just the height was amazing.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Yes, I have taken painting classes in the past, and I continue to stay aware of the latest in tools and equipment. I also believe safety is a concern. There are scam artists so customers must be careful and choose a legitimate company such as RJ's Painting. Never pay upfront.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. There are trimmers for the painter to save time. The quality of the paint has increased, there are texture paints, and designer colors which make the walls really stand out. The whole idea is to cover the surface with a quality paint that will be both durable and washable, keeping your home at it's best for years to come! There are always color fads and designs that are forever changing; we provide several options for the customer.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. I recently did a 2 bedroom home throughout in 14 hours for about $600.00 labor-$155.00 paint. This home had a living room, dining room, 2 hallways, a kitchen, and 2 bedrooms with closets.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. I usually charge 75 cents per square inch. It works out to be about $75.00-$150.00 per room depending on the size. Light plastering of small holes and sanding are included as well as priming or 2 coats of paint.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. I would suggest a lot of research and gain experience before taking on jobs. Painting is not as easy as it seems. If the surface is not prepared correctly, the job won't last.
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. Are you available for immediate service? Yes, we are able to handle more than 1 job at a time and large projects.
