Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. There are two sides of a website. Creative and Coding. Think of this as the car designer and the engineer. The designer draws this beautiful truck with huge monster truck style tires, flames coming out the pipes and the engineer goes, "whoa, whoa, you can't do that!"

I have years of experience on both sides which make it easier to work with all types of professionals. It also allows me to save time and expenses not having to contract work out and I have an easier time consulting clients.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. This industry changes nearly every week. These changes don't stop with just updates in technology with software, tablets and smartphones. Usability is something that is hard for the average person to understand. They believe that if they look at something and it's easy to use on their home computer, then it's easy to use. There is a great deal of science and psychology that goes into website usability and new studies are introduced every day.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. If you're looking for a fresh, unique website image you need to make sure your professional doesn't use templates. You should ask what they know about usability, web standards and search engine optimization just to see if they stay up on the trends. A good developer should have a well-rounded understanding of website hosting. Even if you're going to use a large name-brand hosting company you don't want to wait for technical support for minor issues (some even charge for it).

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The more you know ahead of time what you wish to accomplish with your website the easier it will be in the long-run. Your content and design is what's going to attract visitors and keep them coming back. Searching the web for recent design styles (competitors too) is a great way to have a design in mind. Promotion of the website is on-going. How will you promote your website? Unlike promotion, the website requires maintenance such as content updating, freshening, renewing. It's like a baby.
