About Reflections by Rohne

We are a mother-and-son team. Understanding the dynamics of love and family drives us to create images that capture strong feelings within the relationships of our subjects.

We are storytellers. We are photographers. We are Reflections by Rohne. Photographs (light writings) are a great way to tell stories. We use light to capture your story, or at least a portion of it, in images that you can "read" and relive over and over and over.

Our passion:

Life is so much more than a series of events. Life is emotions, relationships, feelings, experiences and details. Once past, we can never retrieve a moment of our lives; we can only remember. Photographs keep our memories alive.

Our passion is capturing life moments with their emotions -- images that touch your heart -- in photographic art. Moments of life are frozen in time to tell your story, about the people you love, about your lives, and the feelings, experiences, and details that make your story uniquely you.

Our style:

Our style is romantic, fun, classic, personal, and artistic. These are words we often hear to describe our photography. We spend time getting to know you and understand you, so we can photograph your story, your personalities, your relationships, and your emotions in the most accurate and beautiful way possible.

Our style becomes your style, so our art tells your story.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. My favorite subjects are families and wedding participants. I love to take a few posed shots and then let my subjects relate naturally to one another and create the most wonderful images. Most of my family lifestyle portraits are taken at my subject's home or cottage, favorite park or beach, anywhere that means something special to them.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't just hire someone you know who likes to take pictures. Hire someone you know who has professional experience and knowledge about how to deliver a complete finished product and who won't get nervous under pressure.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. A lot of photographers don't have any training, and have been lucky to capture a few good images out of thousands. You want someone who knows the mechanics of how to use a camera and lighting completely. Photography is the art of painting with light. Unless your photographer understands how to use light to paint, you will just get snapshots from a good camera.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask to see previous work, and about everything that will be delivered to you for the commission you pay. Don't settle for a disk of images...you want them to deliver finished images. If you want a disk of images for computer and web uses ask for it in addition to wall hangings and albums.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. "Romantic" ... "Fun" ... "Classic" ... “Personal” ...and "Artistic" are words we often hear to describe our photography. We spend time getting to know you and understand you so we can photograph your story, your personalities, your relationships, and your emotions in the most accurate and beautiful way possible.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Capturing a moment in time to last forever is a gift that hardly any other profession allows. I love painting with light. Everywhere I look I see how light changes the looks of people and things, making them look more engaged, alive, and majestic.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I love it when I see my past clients post images I took on their facebook account and say something about how awesome something about the image is to them. Some of the images have been from 30 years ago and some from the past year.

One of the most meaningful images I took was of an extended family. They were meant to be wall portraits for the grandparents. Three days later the grandmother died and the photos suddenly became so important to all of them.
