Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The client determines how expensive the recording session is. By preparing for the session and learning their parts, they can greatly reduce the amount of time and money spent on their project.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. As computer technology has evolved and programs such as Garage Band have become bundled with every Mac computer, a large number of project studios have popped up in every neighborhood. The problem is that these project studios do not have the proper rooms to track professional recordings, or the training and experience to produce a professional recording. Silver Dragon Productions is a professional recording studio with professionally designed and built acoustic spaces, and a trained professional staff. For little more than the cost of a project studio, we offer professional recordings that are radio ready.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like that no two sessions are ever the same. Each session presents a new challenge to overcome, and it keeps me engaged in finding new ways to do things. I love that I'm part of the creative process, and am proud to be working with some of the most talented musicians.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The most common question is "How does someone get into this industry?" I ususally answer it with another question such as "Why would you want to be involved in this industry?". The reason I ask this, is the audio business is very tough to break into, and once you've broken in you'll find it very difficult to make a living. If they tell me that their love for music production is such that they're not worried about making a lot of money, and that they can't imagine doing anything else with their lives, I offer them the follwing advice. Go to a respected audio school, such as Full Sail University in Orlando Florida. As a graduate of this school I can attest that they will give you the tools you need to succeed in this business. After completing your schooling, you need to stand out above the other interns at the studio you choose for your internship. You have to work hard, keep a positive attitude, and become an asset to the studio. You will certainly face both financial and emotional hardship, those who keep coming back day after day and not taking no for an answer are the ones that make it.
