Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. In hiring a qualified and knowledgeable massage therapist, you should always ask if they are Nationally Certified (NCTMB), if they are licensed in any other states (Michigan does not yet offer licensure), and how many years of experience they have as a massage therapist.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I absolutely love seeing one of my clients get off the massage table in better shape than they got on it! It's my passion to help you heal yourself and lead a healthier life through a proactive approach to wellness.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. I wish customers knew the amount of training we have gone through to become massage therapists, and the breadth of our medical knowledge, both of the human body and health-related wisdom.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. I would suggest that they examine their motivation to become a massage therapist to ensure they truly have the passion for it. As massage therapists, we form a professional relationship with our client that requires not only a foundation of expertise, but also caring and open minded approach to help them improve and maintain their health. Massage therapy is a career that is requires heart.
