I made a secure, loving and calm space in my home for low-cost yoga practice and instruction. Classes are mainly one-on-one, but you are also welcome to invite up to two additional people to join you in your practice. Or you can be invited into an already existing class of one or two people.
Regardless of weight, health, fitness level, age, color, or race, be assured that you can still practice yoga happily, comfortably and safely. Poses taught are separated into increments, supported by props, and often tailored solely for the individual. The words I most often hear from my students is “I can’t believe I’m actually doing this (pose)!"
A. I would love to have teachers in my area that teach the alignment-based, therapeutic style that I teach. As it stands, I have to drive up to Ann Arbor, or 3+ hours down to Columbus, OH, or fly to NYC to receive these teachings. Most people are overwhelmed and confused about the different traditions of yoga that exist in the West today... it takes some research to uncover the truth, but it's well worth the effort to find what is appropriate for you as an individual.
A. Because my classes are so intimate, I am better able to approach each student from where they are at that moment, on that day. My background in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology allows me to better grasp a student's issue and address it. Thanks to my teachers (and their teachers, and their teachers, etc.), my students, and my own experience and intuition, I am able to tailor the practice to the needs of the practitioner.
A. I love having made my home studio into a peaceful, serene space where people can learn and practice. When I hear students acknowledge their increased strength, flexibility, focus and inner peace, my world simply lights up.
A. "Do you really think I'll ever be able to do it?" They're referring to a full expression of an asana of which they are working on an "easier" variation. My usual answer is, "Perhaps, but you're getting everything you need from your work here and now. Even in that full expression, there will be more to be done... so do your best to be content with what is."
