Vanessa Chasney is a terrific music teacher. Our 10 year old son has been seeing her for the past 3 years and he loves playing the piano under her guidance. Vanessa inspires and challenges her students while allowing them to have fun while at it. We love the fact that she encourages students to perform many times during the year including several recitals in front of parents, workshops in front of fellow students, audititions and guilds in front of judges and the grand competition, the Michigan Music Festival (almost all her students walk away with a place trophy). It is clear that Vanessa loves music and it is only eclipsed by her love of teaching music to her students.

I would highly recommend Vanessa to anyone interested in piano lessons for their children or themselves! My son started taking lessons with her at age 6, with no musical experience. He loves taking lessons, and we just cannot believe how much he has learned in just one year. Vanessa has a great teaching approach, obviously, since we all know how hard it is to keep little boy's attention! Vanessa does a great job with motivating the kids, and the recitals are such a good opportunity for them to perform in front of groups. Vanessa is personable and very accomodating, and always goes above and beyond.....I feel so lucky to have found her!

Vanessa is a great teacher, able to motivate children of all ages, boys and girls on playing piano and getting better at it. My kids, Laura (7) and Daniel (10) both love to play piano and mostly to participate at different events, workshops, competitions and have fun while learning. Vanessa's students are among the best in Michigan, winning prizes and trophies every time they compete.

Vanessa is also highly dedicated, receptive to kids' choices of music, and also very accommodating.

I recommend Music Achievers Conservatory to all parents and children that would like to learn to play piano, either competitively or just because they like music and have fun while playing.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be sure you hire someone that cares about your child, and will be flexible with changing lesson times if need be, so your child doesn't miss out on a lesson due to other activities he or she is involved in. Go with someone who offers more than just lessons. Children enjoy group activities and get more involved in their lessons when there is a special event to prepare for, whether it is a Halloween Workshop, or a competitive event where they can show off their polished memorized solos for a judge and or audience and receive a trophy or medal! These are things that will keep the students interest for years to come!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Patience, Caringness, Kindness and Positive Energy are the keys to being a successful piano teacher. Be sure to not only teach how to play the piano or to sing, but to teach all the benefits that come from learning an instrument. You are helping your memory to become stronger when memorizing solos, you are also learning to make music for others to enjoy and relax to. Besides, it is a great way to express your feelings at the time. Ask students how their life is outside of the piano, care about whatelse is going on, and then you will have earned their attention for the next half hour! We all want a listener, and it only takes a second to ask.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you do this as a full time job? How much time do you spend teaching, preparing and running musical events throughout the year? Do you prepare students for outside events besides the ones in your school? What experience do you have in teaching? Are you a member of National Federation of Music Clubs (Festival)? National Guild of Piano Teachers? Michigan Music Association? American Guild of Musicians?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. How reputable am I? Who has heard of me in the area? Has your child's music teacher at school heard of me?

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Teaching piano for me is not a job, it is my passion! I get to be with so many different people each day, to share the love of music I have! I get to see them leave each week with a smile on their face because they will be learning a new song at the piano!
