FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After I had nearly finished my Elementary Education degree and I had decided that teaching was not a path I should follow anymore, I had taken some classes at the local community college in different professional areas to see where I might have a strength that I should pursue further education in. This was the first time I had taken any "artsy" classes (even in high school) and I LOVED every minute of classes. This was the first time I actually couldn't wait for the next class to see what I would learn next. My Dad, who owns his own pool business, then asked me to create advertisements for him and as it turns out, he had a great response from. At this point I knew that graphic design was something that I was actually good at and it was at that time that I went back to college to Central Michigan University to learn everything I could and pursue a BFA in graphic design.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My most common types of jobs are business cards, logo identity and design, wedding invitations, print advertisements and labels for food products.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I've always thought that word of mouth is the most promising form of flattery that exists. I have build my business entirely on networking and testimonials from my existing clients. My advice is to listen to those that you trust and see examples of a providers' work. The finished product will tell you all that you need to know.
