Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. They should verify that the real estate agents they hire are full time and have been in the business for a minimum of 5 years. If you're a seller find out where the agent will be advertising their home. Ask to see their website so you can see how it ranks. As a buyer make sure the agent is providing you with daily updates of new homes hitting the market.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. The biggest thing a customer should know is how we are paid. Usually the seller pays the commission - the listing agent usually takes half and the other half goes to the agent that sells the home. The other is knowing how we get our data. Many people do not realize that when we list a home it goes in data base and all agents in that data base have access to it.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. How long have you been licensed? How many homes did you sell last year? Do you work full time? Do you have another job? How often will the agent stay in contact with you?
