Introduction: Thumbtack "Best of 2016" Award! I have 40+ years of experience, and a Master of Music degree. I teach beginning/advanced guitar, and beginning/intermediate piano. I have students ranging in age from 6 to 60+. With a certificate in Musikgarten, I have experience with young children in a classroom and individual lessons. I teach elementary music at a school in Dearborn Heights. I like to combine what the student wants to play with what the student needs to learn. I teach note reading, effective practice techniques, and some music by rote (by heart). I love to see someone do something they didn't think they could do.

My husband had been wanting to take lessons and we tried a few teachers until we chanced on Mike. Mike responded to our initial email immediately and we started our lessons. We are now a few months in, and have a long term relationship. He is punctual as well as flexible, something that makes him invaluable. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$30 / 30 minute lesson at the student's location ($120 / month).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out the student's playing level (many are beginners!). For beginners, I like to teach some music by rote (by heart) so they get some experience and enjoyment playing. Later we get into music reading. Some students are ready for reading right from the start, though.
