FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After a long career as a counselor, I recognized an opportunity to work in music-my primary life-long interest. I began by teaching guitar within community education settings and at home. I subsequently added entertainment: performing on vocals and acoustic guitar as a soloist and playing in various band formats.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
As a solo musician, I perform on vocals and guitar at senior centers, community centers, along with independent living, assisted living, and nursing home facilities. These events are scheduled morning, noon, and night, Sunday through Saturday. When playing with the band, I perform primarily at private parties on weekends.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
In late October, I played as a soloist for a group of senior citizens. My repertoire for the event consisted of songs from 1900 to 1950. Everything went perfectly and I was immediately asked to return as soon as possible. In early October, my band played at a private party; by the end all of the guests were dancing to the music. The band played an extended set, just to keep the party going.
