A. Passion! I love what I do and the comfort that it brings to the people I work on. I think of it as an art form. Flowing from one movement right into the next, creating a harmony of good sensations and releasing tension and knots at the same time. I also make sure if I don't know about something I find out as much as I can before the customer visits the next time so I can address there problem more effectively. Also, the variety of things I provide and I am able to adjust my technique and process if needed to accommodate a need for my client. I want my customer to know that they are my priority during the time they are with me and also when they leave if I have something to follow up on.
A. I have never loved any job as much as I do massage therapy. My favorite part is when my customers are checking out and they have the biggest smiles. It is rewarding to me knowing that I have helped someone feel awesome and reduced their pain or gotten rid of a headache for them.
A. The #1 question I get asked is what can I do at home so that my muscles don't get so tight?
My answer: There are several things you can do, the first of which is to check your posture during the day. Most people slouch or lean which puts stress on the wrong part of the muscle causing it to spasm. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of non-caffeinated beverages such as water or herbal tea, and finally stretch out 2 or 3 times during the day to keep the blood flowing to all your muscles.
A. A few weeks ago, I did cupping therapy on a long term client that was experiencing a frozen shoulder. We had done deep tissue massage once every couple weeks and were getting relief but only for a short time. Once we did cupping therapy on the same area (one session), the customer could lift her arm over her head right away. She came to her next session and said she still had not had any trouble with it after the first and only session of massage cupping. I was excited to be able to enhance the benefits of her session. She also did not get sore after the session like during a deep tissue massage.
