Check with the MN Secretary of State Business Lookup website and make sure you're hiring a legit operation. You can't carry commercial insurance if you're not licensed/registered. Leaving the liability on you. (Henry Homeowner) If you're hiring a business to apply fertilizer or weed control products to your lawn, check with the MN Dept. of Ag for their license. It would really stink if you had a lush green lawn for five days, only to come home from work and find it chemically burned, or kids and pets sick from an over application of herbicides/pesticides.
