Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. I am a custom kitchen and bathroom remodeler that specializes in professional tile & stone installations. I also finish or remodel lower levels and basements or any other interior room.
I do not build additions or do exterior work like roofing and siding or installing windows and entry doors.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. 1. Make sure the contractor you hire is licensed and insured. You can check them out by going to the MN Department of Labor and Industry's website.
2. Go to the Better Business Bureau's website to see if there has been any complaints against the contractor. If they are a BBB member they will have a reliability report with a letter grade rating.
3. Ask the contractor for his list of current references and call the most recent ones that are similar to your type of project.
4, If your house was built before 1978 the contractor will need to be RRP certified as required by the EPA and federal law to work in your house. The EPA now has a search tool on their website to help you find an RRP certified contractor in your area.
5. Never take out a building permit for the contractor. When the contractor signs the permit, the contractor is agreeing to do the work according to code. If you sign the permit, you are liable for correcting the contractors work if it should fall short of the city or state building code standards.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Quality craftsmanship and materials, attention to detail and excellent customer service at an affordable price. I take pride in every project that I do!
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I am required to have 7 hours of continuing education including 1 hour of energy per year by a pre-approved class by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry in order to renew my contractors license. I do however go beyond what is required by attending other classes, seminars and trade shows throughout the year.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. First of all I would like people to know my pricing is very competitive, but I do not have a base price or give per square foot quotes for custom remodeling. I meet with my client to discuss their project and I customize my estimate based on their wants and needs. Every estimate I give is customized to the client. I am truly a custom remodeler.
Custom remodeling doesn't necessarily mean more expensive, it means you are getting what you want to make your life easier and more enjoyable.
