Introduction: We create beautiful portraits in an easygoing manner. We never try to fit our clients into an artist mold and instead get to know our clients so we can capture who they are in our photography. Everything we shoot involves real smiles, real actions, true gestures...we can't achieve that without getting to know our clients well beforehand. We also try to not duplicate our work or others work, creating a unique look for each client. I love getting to know our clients to the point where we not only photograph their wedding, but their family and special events as well. John (my husband) loves stretching himself creatively and using his mad parkour skills to get crazy angles for portraits.

Studio Laguna has been photographing us for 5 years (engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, and family sessions) and keeps giving us new reasons to come back! Katrina is great at connecting with people of all ages and making them feel really comfortable being photographed. She has an amazing ability to get fresh and creative shots that are really organic while still accommodating any posed requests you may have. My husband and I feel that her work captures us as a couple and family better than anything else we've seen, and we plan to work with her again very soon as we welcome our second child into the world. We can't thank and credit her enough for all the beautiful moments she has frozen in time for us and look forward to seeing more soon!

I became familiar with Studio Lagunas work after my own wedding, which is too bad because I would have used them instead! Recently, I had Katrina take some family portraits with me, my husband, and 22 month old. My daughter is notoriously terrible near cameras. She either makes ridiculous faces or cries. However, Katrina asked to take the first 45 minutes for her to "get to know"y daughter, and proceeded to play, laugh, and show the camera to her. I was so impressed by her information, ease, professionalism, and joy in her craft. And some of those early pictures are stunning! She was just as careful with my husband and I. I am a larger girl and Katrina was sensitive to that, always ensuring that any pose I was in was flattering, and showin me how to best display my attributes. It was such a pleasure working with her, I would recommend it to any/everyone!

Katrina took our wedding photos and they turned out beautifully! We were married in downtown Minneapolis and Katrina had scouted some wonderful locations for our wedding party photos. Her vision made our wedding photos artistic and amazing. She and John were extremely professional in their interactions with not only me and my husband but also all of our guests. Katrina was fantastic to work with on our wedding day! Both her and john were so attentive and crazy creative throughout our whole wedding day! I honestly couldn't have asked for better photographers. And the final images were exactly what I was hoping for.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are constantly learning and improving. We are part of the Fearless Photographers group that has a conference every year to inspire, and continuous online forums and critiques to polish our work. I also seek out a photographer I admire every year and spend my own money to second shoot with them and learn from them. We also actively network and learn from local business owners.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I'm that classic "I've been shooting since I can remember" type of people, so is my husband. But we got into this business because we wanted a line of work that would allow scheduling flexibility for when we started a family.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We are mainly a wedding photography business, but also photograph births, kids, and families. I LOVE food photography, and John loves anything to do with sports and the outdoors. We do quite a bit of commercial work that involves natural portraits and environmental images.
