Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Do your homework. Be sure the company is a licensed real estate broker. Get references and check them. Ask questions about how quickly will you respond and what is your process for handling requests. How do you select and manage vendors? What is your inspection process and how often do you inspect the property? The biggest thing to remember is the management company is a vendor just like any other. Service is key. Without great customer service you will not be improving the everyday care for your property or the people who live there. Keep in mind the process of finding a new management company is just that a process. When you find the right fit it can mean a very long term relationship.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Sharper Management endorses a new business model. Just as technology has changed other industries, Sharper believes it is changing the property management industry. Sharper is concerned with how a project or problem is handled and solved, not by which person in the company does the work. The partners and employees are concerned with how problems are resolved, how quickly they are solved, why the problem initially happened, who can be contacted to prevent a problem from happening again, and finding the fastest and most effective remedy. Because they work as a collaborative group, any property manager that is brought on to the staff will understand the principles and work within the team confines.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Our approach is based on our five guiding principles: Reliability, Transparency, Integrity, Precision, and Innovation. You should ask about these qualities when looking for the right company to handle any management need.

Reliability – This is the main reason why townhome associations are shopping for a new management company. There is a serious lack of communication as more associations become another number for the large management companies. We are available 24 hours a day and will respond promptly to all situations with respect and diligence for the homeowner.

Transparency – We are a vendor and understand our role. We can provide advice along with recommendations but ultimately we are a resource for the board of directors to more efficiently perform their job. We are very open and up front with anything we do, particularly with the finances of the association.

Integrity – We work with board members to ensure compliance with current laws and statutes. Our partnerships with local law firms along with our Attorney/Managing broker, provide a great resource for the associations. We are honest and open with all association members.

Precision - We provide monthly reports along with a management timeline to offer our clients a precise overview of the health and direction of the association. We also focus on the smallest details related to vendors, such as snow removal issues, parking, and lawncare.

Innovation – We are constantly looking to improve our systems, but more importantly, offer our improvements to the clients we serve. We know that we can always be better and our commitment to you is that we will always strive to be a better company for you. Our use of technology is unmatched among property management companies.
