Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I produce for a wide range of purposes: storytelling, news, events, presentations, curriculum, and multiple camera shoots for the performing arts. With the storytelling videos, I seek to capture authentic interviews and mix this with shots of activity (whatever they're talking about). This brings a viewer into the experience in ways that reaches beyond words. I often add music in strategic ways to enhance viewer attention.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. We love what you love, and want your viewers to love it too. Think about the specific message you want to send your audience, what you want your video to look like, and what platform you will use to send your message (such as, youtube, DVD, etc). These questions are some of the things we consider carefully before we shoot the first frame.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Creating video can be very expensive and very time consuming. Contracts can help contain costs and specify how much time is needed. Contracts are generated using an hourly wage, and other costs, like equipment use fees. Hourly wages vary greatly depending on videographer experience and quality of equipment. We enjoy defraying costs whenever possible, and also suggest ways for saving on video production costs.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. When seeking video services from professionals, it's important to consider if the quality of work will be adequate. Video can be shot in all kinds of conditions, and many things impact the quality of video production, such as whether lighting is controlled, or whether camera angles are limited. Asking to see samples of work from the professional can answer some of those questions, but also consider if those conditions will be similar to those you have in mind for your project.
