Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Complete kitchen remodels. Most any thing you need done we can do it.....
Kitchens, cabinets, Counter tops Flooring, Lighting, Electrical, Plumbing, Windows and doors , Wall moves, Wall board, And even large scale remodels. We are a Lic, design builder.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Ask question that you would when you hire someone for your business, like an interview, If they cannot answer the tough ones, then move on. Find people who are honest and can be trusted in your home alone, with the keys. But most of all, hire an honest workman.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Well; .........trade secrets and tricks-of-the-trade are something, that we have many of. The one thing to keep in mind about kitchen remodeling is, that it is very complicated, When the average set of cabinets from the big box store is $6,500, you have a lot invested by the time your materials are on the site and ready to go. If the plan is poor, and un-skillfully, executed, you will have added costs... and time. So put that time in up front and plan every detail, so the project will come together quickly once that sink is removed.
If you take a short cut on the installer and get any guy with a pickup truck and some new tools you will be losing out on getting the best part of the project right. You need a exceptionally good installer; (one who plans out every feature and every step.)
The real trick to the trade..? is to get a Good licenced, expert Kitchen design and remodeling Company. One that has a good tack record .
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Your Kitchen Remodel should start with a professional measure.
Be prepared with your questions, before the estimator arrives .
Typically you will have many ideas before this, so the first step for the project plan is the measure, and design. A professional can guide you to which products, and services would best fit your ideas and home.
From there, you can see what is the best fit for your budget and taste. The ideas will change as you develop your plan.
There are usually at least two revisions to the plan, and on big projects there can be many more.
We are confident we can help you get things to come together quickly.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. 20 years of remodeling and solving expensive cost issues of the kitchen remodel. We are truly affordable whether you are buying your own cabinets or would like to spend a little more and get premium semi-custom cabinets installed. We have a kitchen for you. We are a family run business, so we know the value of your hard earned dollar.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The smile on the face of the customer when we are finished, and they love what we did for them. The process of doing a great job for our neighbors in this town is very rewarding. I don’t know a contractor that does kitchen remodeling for the money. There are a lot of easer ways to make money, but the self expression of a beautiful kitchen remodel is really quite a lot of fun. Besides, I don’t know how to do anything else.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Typically they are concerned with the cost. They already know what they want, so when I get there, we talk about how they can get it. We have great vendors and excellent skills, so we try to get the customer the best products at our wholesale price. We focus on a good fit of cabinets, counter tops, and kitchen accessories to bring it all together. Cost is essential to the projects success. If the budget is tight, then we do all we can to make it work.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I am always satisfied when the customer is happy. We like what we do, and we like to work for people. It’s a good honest business.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. That there are more good guys out here doing work.
That We are looking for customers that will call us back year after year for their home repairs. And that it is an honest profession with hard-working Americans who love to earn their own way. And, if the guys you hire are Lic, insured, and well schooled in their trade, you can bet they take their work seriously. A kitchen remodel, is no place for the rookie to be running the project.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. It is a family run business, my dad was a carpenter and I was able to help as I grew up. I love what I do. As time went on I became a builder myself and Now with Abbykitchens we seem to be a good fit.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. Just the little old lady who raised her two children and took care of her husband for forty years, In a 1909 patched together kitchen. Then finally had us replace that 1908 house kitchen, this one had no window on the sink wall. and still had the half chimney rising up fron the wall_ She always wished she could look out the window while cleaning up and see the birds in the yard. By the time we were finished, she had a show-place kitchen with four windows and everything where it was supposed to be. A whole new kitchen; a whole new layout; ( new heat, new water lines, new gas lines, new walls, ceiling, floors, doors, cabinets, trim, and of course new counter tops.) When it was finished her husband and her danced in the kitchen to some jazz and had a nice glass of red wine. Needles to say, they were pleased..
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Yes, I have required continuing education classes every year. I often will take additional classes just to stay informed on new codes and proceedures. In addition to Vendor product classes. We stay fairly informed here at AbbyKitchens.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. There are new kitchen products coming out all the time. Feel free to ask me about them. One of the best this year 2011 is the under mount Ring Seal sing that can be mounted in a Standard laminate counter top. This gives you the under mount sink at a laminate counter top Price. That’s another great cost savings to you.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. With proper planning, an average kitchen takes us just 4 days to install. An average Kitchen will cost around 3500 to 6500 for cabinets and counter tops plus installation, and any other remodeling add-ons
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. We use line item pricing for all aspects of the project. This way you can select what you really want/need done and know the price you will pay.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. You really need to enjoy doing hard work
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. What do you think about high priced kitchen remodeling companies and their installing services?
Well the truth is kitchen are Expensive.. We have seen competing bids that start with high priced design fees and end with over priced cabinets. But, with careful planning and good pricing you can get it done.. I feel we are one of the best Kitchen remodelers in the St.Paul and Minneapolis area. I hope you will try us out.
