Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Since there is no MLS covering our area, make sure you can trust your agent. You want to find someone you're comfortable with who you believe is looking out for your best interest. There is a lot of manipulation that can occur in real estate.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Especially in small communities, real estate agents work hard for the money they make. It's tough to make a living at it. Beware of those who view you as an opportunity to make a buck. Reward those who really care about their clients by using them to buy or sell property.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Any agent who talks money (what they get, not what you're able to spend on a home) before the closing should not be showing you houses. Any agent who pressures you at all or seems to be trying to "sell" you a house is manipulating you. Agents should ask you questions - lots of questions. It's their job to SERVE you, not make your decisions for you.
