FIRST LESSON IS FREE! I'm an experienced guitarist with over 10 years of playing/performance experience and around 5 years of teaching experience.
At only 23, I may be young, but I have managed to receive many honors and awards throughout the years as well as having played hundreds of shows.
I currently play in a Minneapolis-based rock band, Chester Bay. The band was featured in the March 18th, 2010 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine and has also opened for many national acts including Los Lobos, The Avett Brothers, Eric Church, and Fitz and the Tantrums.
I teach students of all ages, beginning to advanced, and all styles of playing. My lessons are anything but boring and are fast paced. Students will see results fast!
I touch a lot on improvisation because in my mind, it is the best way to understand the instrument. It allows one to truly express one's self through the instrument. I also focus on:
- Ear training
- Technique
- Theory
- Sight reading
- Performance skills and etiquette, etc.
If the student knows exactly what they would like to learn, I am more than happy to focus on whatever that may be.
For more information, feel free to visit my website. It contains my resume as well as links to multiple social networks, music, videos, and more!
A. Look into the instructors websites and social networks. YouTube, Myspace, and Facebook will really let you meet the intstructor without actually meeting them in person. These kind of sights let you see exactly what kind of product you'll be getting.
A. I've been a customer before. I've taken my share of lessons to get to where I'm at. One thing I always ran into was finding a teacher that couldn't teach me what I wanted to learn. The older generation of teachers never had the resources like YouTube and Facebook to share their playing with others so I never really knew what kind of teacher I would be getting. The only thing I knew about my intructors were things I had heard by word of mouth. These days you can check their music out online and even watch videos of them playing. It makes it a lot easier to decide if an instructor is right for you.
A. Before you speak with an instructor you should narrow down what it is that you would like to learn or focus on. That way you can ask the instrcutor straight up if they can teach you what you want to know. Also make sure you're getting a teacher that is specialized in the style/genre of playing that you're trying to learn. Most instructors will be able to teach any style but each instructor will be a true master at only a select few (although there are exceptions). You want to get the best intstructor to see satisfactory results, so ask the instructor "what would you say is you favorite style to play? what are you a master at?"
