Know what you want, and what your budget is. It makes the process much better for a designer or developer to begin work promptly and provide you with a product you will love.

I often wish that clients could understand better that there is rarely a simple and straight forward answer to their unique situation. Every project is individual and has it's own intricacies, and that is how I treat it. I actually find it insulting when I am looking for a solution and someone presumes to think it is very simple.
