Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Companion dogs that live in the home as a pet that need to learn proper manners and good etiquette.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. If you are seeking a trainer for a pet dog, find a professional that is certified to work with pet dogs. Select a trainer that has hands on experience working with pet dogs that can show you the results of dogs they have trained. A good trainer can provide you with client testimonials, online reviews of past clients, and references.

Ask questions like:

What type of training methods do you use?
Who will be handling my dog on a daily basis?
Where is the dog kept when it is not in training?
What type of formal education have you received for training dogs?
Are you member to any professional organizations?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our boot camp dogs in training travel off-site to public places where they learn proper etiquette, how to meet and greet people under control, and to respond to commands under distraction (dogs, bicycles, rollerbladers, etc). We incorporate socialization with other dogs, physical conditioning on a treadmill, distraction proofing, confidence building, and behavior modification. This program is unlike any other dog boot camp.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Giving dogs more freedom to go places and do things with their family.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Q. Will my dog remember me after they have been at your facility for training?

A. Yes, the dogs always remember their owner.

Q. Do you go over the training with the owners when the dog graduates?

A. Yes, this is the most important part of what we do. When owners arrive at graduation we show them a DVD of their dog performing the commands, we include written material covering commands, protocol to enforce commands (how to keep your dog well trained 101), and we work hands on with the dog and owner.

Q. Do you provide follow up training or assistance post course completion?

A. Yes, we give two private sessions (1 hour each) with each course. We also give phone and email assistance for the life of the dog ensuring that owners always have a training resource for questions.
