FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I constantly work to improve my knowledge and skills. In 2013 alone I completed a Certificate in Advanced Social Media and an Associate Certificate in Business Analysis. Not long ago I completed a mini MBA in Business Communications at the University of St. Thomas. I'm also a voracious reader. I constantly search out information on the web that can help my customers. I read and archive articles on social media, brand development, community engagement, employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, and stories about people making a difference in the world. I always have a book or two I'm reading. Books like, Primal Branding, Tribal Leadership, The Tipping Point, Escaping the Giant Hairball, FISH!, Top Performer; A Bold Approach to Sales and Service, The Experience Economy, and dozens more.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Becoming a brand storyteller and marketer was a no-brainer for me because I'm one of those odd people who is creative AND who loves business. People have told me for years that I could sell ice cubes to eskimos. I disagree. I've sold a lot of stuff, but all I've ever really done was tell people about a product or service I believed in and that I thought would be good for them, too. I loved sharing stories that would help others see how cool something was. People responded by buying it. I started writing in the seventh grade. I'd get in trouble in class when teachers would catch me writing a story instead of writing whatever paper I was supposed to be working on. (I usually got out of trouble when I showed them the already finished paper -- I did them fast so I could get to my stories!) I can't help myself. I HAVE to write and I HAVE to share ideas and stories with people. Narratives.biz gives me the chance to do both. The idea of doing them both while helping others succeed, well, it's absolutely irresistible for me.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I develop brand stories, web content, print flyers and brochures, experiential and cause marketing events and campaigns, online and print marketing plans, website and wordpress building, social media plans, and employee engagement keynote presentations.
