The reason that my work stands out is because I have been remodeling for 28 years and have very extensive knowledge of all of the trades required to remodel a home. I am very particular about the whole job and especially the finish details. I look for ways to carry the project from the beginning to the end with as few problems as possible. The thing that I love the most about my job is dealing with the people and making sure that they get exactly what they are looking for. I love problem solving and finding solutions. The only real problem is not dwelling long enough to find the solution. My grandfather always told me that if one man made it, another man can figure it out. I have always prided myself with that attitude and always seek advice from wiser people if I can't find a solution.

Hourglass remodeled my kitchen and the workmanship is beautiful! It was a complete gut job and involved moving a wall and removing soffits - it looks fabulous. Guy does excellent work - a bit slowly - but the end results are wonderful. We enjoy the kitchen every day and the improvement is hard to believe!

Guy Beuker remodled my kitchen and much to the delight of my wife and I he was very diligent, knowledgeable and skilled at resolveing several issues we had encountered. I found it extreamly fortuitous that we had Hourglass Remodeling for our kitchen remodel. I feel Guy is honest, trustworthy and willing to stand by his work. Guy did an excellent job redoing our bathroom. He needs to work on communication skills. Did not give a reason for not starting on the job as scheduled in the beginning. Needs to write things down and not forget what needs to be ordered and completed.

This 2 star rating is mainly due to Guy's customer service. We had a small kitchen project for Guy that was only supposed to take 2-3 days. We had recently bought our home and were on a tight budget. We were a little worried from the beginning when he started a month after when he originally said he would. We had to be the ones that followed up with him and he even had my wife draft up the final copy of the contract because the one he gave us had errors in it and he was on another job when she called to notify him. He left scrapes on our floor and a hole in our garage ceiling, both of which were fixed only after we asked him to. After installing our counter top, he notified us that there would be an additional charge for supplies and labor because he had to build a brace for a back corner but the problem was he did not let us know until after he had already completed the job. There was no way for us to know if he even did any "additional work", which raised the cost of our project by more than 20%. We paid him the additional amount and let him know that for future reference, customers would probably like to see anything that is going to cost them more than what is agreed upon in the contract and his only response was "Ok". We are happy with the look of the finished product but his business skills are severely lacking and we would not use him for any future projects.

The project did start a month later than antisipated. As I sign contracts they are put into a work schedule. I finish one job and then start the next. The previous job required more work then what could be seen when bidding the job. There was mold behind the walls and under the flooring which had to be addressed before the bathroom could be put back together. The same thing happened with this job. If the original countertop would have been installed in the proper way, the new top would not have required extra work. The minor scrapes on the floor were noted by myself and the patching of the ceiling was also known. The bulk of the work was completed on a Friday and the clients were out of town for the weekend. The flooring and ceiling were fixed on Monday after the clients came home and informed me where the extra tiles were for the flooring. The cost for any additional work is discribed at the bottom of each contract.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just finished a kitchen for John C. in St. Ann and it came out beautiful. There were many unforeseeable issues that the previous contractor covered up. There were multiple splices in the electric in the ceiling with just tape on the connections, major rotting in the wall, ceiling, and floor of the kitchen. The entire waste stack had to be replaced. The kitchen is to be posted on my website soon.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
In choosing a professional always choose one that has been doing only that profession for a long time. In the case of remodeling there are so many variables that arise from following behind a do it yourselfer or a contractor that cuts a lot of corners. This is the hardest to compensate for because he is the one that also knows how to hide the problem.
