    Job well done!

  • July 24, 2011

Kris remodeled our kitchen a few years ago, so when we wanted to redo our master bath, it never occurred to us to use anyone else. His experience is so broad, he thought of designs that were new to us and presented options in several price ranges. Our final plan was done professionally, quickly, and left us with a bath that we're proud to show off. Get bids from others, but hire Kris. Doing otherwise is a lost opportinity for superior workmanship and value.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Our most common jobs are bathroom remodeling. Master bathrooms and Kitchens are two areas where a homeowner can get a return on their investment. There are a lot of newer homes that are built without finished basements, so turning these rough areas into usable living spaces is another way to add to the value of the home.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I feel that it is important to be able to talk to someone that has trusted this contractor in their home, and who is/was pleased with their workmanship, as well as proffessionalism.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. As contractors, we find that the average homeowner doesn't realize the amount of work it takes to get from point "A" to point "B", when it comes to a remodeling project. I think that it is helpful to the consumer if they have some idea of what is involved in a project, so they may have a better understanding as to where their money is going.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Are you licensed?
Are you insured?
How long have you been in business?
Do you have references?
Do you have photos of your work?
How many times have you had to come back to a job and fix something?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. If a customer has a project that may require multiple trades, then they may want to consider a company such as ours, that can handle all aspects of a project. Most consumers would rather deal with one person, rather than coordinating with several tradesmen. Ths also keeps the project costs down.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My crew will take the time to work out every little detail of a job, because we believe that the smallest little details is what completes a quality project.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The thing I like most about my job, is when we complete a project, and the customer tells me that our work looks far better than what they ever imagined, and they are very pleased. It is the customer satisfaction, not the money, that sends me home happy.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Probably the number one most commonly asked question is" how well do you trust your crew"? I can answer that with the same answer every time. I trust them 100%, because they are the only crew that I have ever had, and I have known them all their lives. The second most commonly asked question is " Are you going to be here with your crew the whole time ?" I would love to be there the whole time on every project, but I have to be the person who has to get materials to the job, haul away all the construction debris, etc. etc. Fortunately, for me, I have 150% faith and trust in my crew, and have no worries when I am not there.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I like my customers to be able to talk to other people that we have done work for, simply to put them at ease with the honesty and integrity of who is working for them. We have a solid customer base, and all of our customers were very satisfied with our workmanship, and are happy to share the news with potential new customers.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I always had a knack for building things since I was a young boy, and knew from then on that I would be a carpenter.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Every time I hear about a new item/product for a home, or even a new way of doing something, I like to research the item, so that I may offer the latest products for my customers.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. Our most recent project was a complete master bath remodel. This project included opening up two walls to add pocket doors, building a custom shower, relocating the toilet. The shower was all marble and glass tiles from floor to ceiling, with a full body spray system. The shower was also enclosed with 3/8 thick glass panels and door. The vanity included a custom cabinet, with a granite top and undermount sink.
We also added crown molding to the adjacent bedroom, and re-trimmed the windows with a wider casing to match the new crown molding. The cost of this project was roughly $ 10,000.00, and some photos of this project can be seen at our site www.precisionhomeconcepts.com/thumbtack.
We are very proud of this project, and look forward to creating our next masterpiece in your home! call us today at 816-721-1124!

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. First and foremost is always be honest. You will not be in business very long, if you are not honest with people. Your customers need to be 100% sure that they can trust you in their home. Also, be knowledgeable about your trade. If there is something that you are not comforatable doing, then research it, and make yourself comfortable, so that you can do a good job. If that doesn't work for you, then be honest with your customers, and tell them that "I'm sorry, but this is something that is beyond my expertise, and I don;t feel as if I can do a good enough job if I try and perform this task for you"
