A. Battling nasty viruses for my clients has got to be my most common type of job.
Beyond that, most people tend to call when the computer "just doesn't work," anymore. That is, they are getting the dreaded blue screen of death, system crashes, or just cant boot their computer up.
A. When looking for a computer technician, keep a few things in mind:
1. Reliability: You want to make sure you hire someone who knows what they are doing. Be wary of rates that seem "too good to be true," as you want to make sure that it is quality work that you are getting.
2. For Pete's sake stay away from the Geek Squad! Larger, "big box" stores charge 200-400% more than what many technicians will for the same services.
A. Word to the wise about your hard drive:
Your hard drive (the disks on the computer where all of your data is stored) will ultimately fail on you sooner or later. Back up your important data on an external hard drive, thumb drive or CD/DVD's so you do not wind up losing it.
A. I stand behind the work that I do.
My clients are always treated with a high level of courtesy and professionalism.
I have professional training that includes certifications from Microsoft, Comp TIA (A+), IBM / Lenovo, and Xerox.
A. Q. What should I do to protect my computer from viruses?
A. Get one of the great free antivirus programs available on the internet.
AVG Free edition and Malwarebytes are my favorites.
