Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. All Couples ~ All Faiths ~ All Budgets
We offer services that guarantee your wedding is uniquely yours. A wedding is a blend of traditions and personal touches. Each wedding event is a creation unto its own and the only limit is your imagination.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. 1. Elopement for a couple from Spain and Oklahoma.
2. Find a venue for a couple looking for a ceremony and location in the same place.
3. Day of coordinator and officiant for a Jennifer+Mark at The Westin Hotel in St Louis.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look for VALUE in a wedding provider. A wedding consultant is mostly a service and not a product. It is hard to judge something that you cannot see.

I try to help my prospective client visualize this concept so that they will see the value in what I do for a living.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. That I did not become a Wedding Liaison because I did such a great job with my own wedding. It is my full-time position and I gained experience working for others in the event industry and then becoming a Professional Bridal Consultant with the Association of Bridal Consultants.

The inside secrets come from working with other wedding professionals and communicating our products and services clearly with each other. Working as a TEAM on the wedding day.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. This testimonials tells it all....

Planning a wedding is very stressful and having someone to go to for help and advice was great. The final week is extremely busy and Carolyn took a load off of my mind when contacting vendors which saved a lot of time. She was a huge help keeping track and organizing things from the ceremony to the reception.
~ Kristin & Argit

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What is so unique about me?
I am very unique in how I approach your wedding. You can have all the plans in place or you can have no idea of where to start. I can be hired for your wedding at ANY TIME during your planning.

The Wedding Resource Package, I brainstorm ideas and come up with as many as 10-15 locations, 1-3 officiants, and
any type of musician. I will contact the resources for you to check on availability and pricing according to your budget.

The Time-Line Talk Package (Wedding Day Assistance), I work with the information you give me to formulate a master plan. I manage your wedding day, supervise your vendors, handle emergencies, and soothe your nerves. The details are in place and the event is being handled by a professional.

I am always on the look-out for the best resources to match your budget. I receive no referral fees from the wedding professionals I recommend.

Why should you hire a Wedding Liaison?
A Wedding Liaison is working for YOU, not the venue or location of your event. Many venues offer a complimentary "wedding coordinator" as part of their package. This person may or may not work with you from beginning to end. Suddenly, he or she may take a new position elsewhere. Sometimes, the bride and groom have never met the coordinator who shows up on their wedding day! Some event coordinators specialize in the reception (catering) side of the event and have little experience in coordinating the ceremony.

Ask the staff at your wedding location what they will and will NOT do to determine your additional needs. I work closely with YOU before, during, and after the ceremony. I assist the officiant and coordinate the roles of your friend or family members who are in the ceremony (ushers, readers, parents, children, etc.).

Some churches or non-religious locations only have a custodian or volunteer present to open the doors, turn on the lights, etc. I will work with the personnel at your ceremony and/or reception site to ease the
planning process.

With the presence of a Wedding Liaison, everyone benefits.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Yes, I have many. Most of them involve my favorite moment when the bride walks down the aisle and I get to have that quiet moment of gratitude when all eyes are on the couple.

I catch up on my thoughts and grab two paper cups of water to present to the couple as they walk down the aisle after the ceremony. That moment is priceless.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I am all about ADVICE and RESOURCES.
That it doesn't hurt to ask for it - you base your decisions on your style, budget, and compatibility.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I started out as the wedding coordinator at my church. I enjoyed it so much but realized that it was not enough. I decided to start my own business and assist wedding all around the Saint Louis metro area.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I coordinated a wedding held outdoors in a busy downtown park. I was able to coordinate with the vendors with the set up of chairs, sound, and all ceremony props. Distribute flowers, train the ushers, and choreograph the processional. All while the public-at-large watched the event. Everything went smootly.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes, I am an active member in the following organizations.

~ Association of Bridal Consultants
~ International Special Events Society
~ Missouri Meetings and Events

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Being a part of the social media like Facebook and Twitter.
I am looking forward to seeing what is next and keeping it fresh.
