Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We offer basic dog training at a fabulous price. Abbie is great at showing all ages of people how to help their new friend become a good canine citizen!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. My terrier mix is really good about “asking” to go outside when he needs to go. His mane is Max. So I take him out, walk him and he does his thing. But a lot of times, Max will come in right after peeing and pooping and will pee just a little right at the door. What is that all about and how can I get him to stop that behavior?

A) There are a few things that could be going on with Max. It’s possible that Max is marking his territory. Is Max neutered? Max could also be submissively peeing. Think about your routine. Do you bend over and pet Max before going into the house? Some dogs will pee just a little in response to a human touch to say “ok, you’re in charge, I know my place.” Either way there are a couple things you can try to get Max out of the habit of peeing by the door. First off, make sure to clean the area thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner so the doorway doesn’t smell like a bathroom. Next, you can either carry Max through the door or turn it into a game. Put Max into a stay outside the door and walk through the doorway. When you get inside call him to you, have him sit and then reward him. This takes the attention off the spot where he’s used to peeing and puts the attention on you.
