FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. The Internet is an amazing teacher. There are so many blogs, forums, newsletters, and professional tutorial websites that I am continuously educating myself. Everyday I have updated information in my email directing me to the latest in design and technique.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In high school I joined the newspaper club and quickly realized that I was not the best news writer. I was much too conversational in my writing. I was then placed in the advertising department of the paper and began designing ads for local business supporters. I loved the versatility of designing a specific look and feel for each client. At that point I knew I wanted to become a designer and a sort of storyteller through graphics (since I obviously couldn't story-tell through the written word. LOL).
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common designs I do for freelance clients are logo and branding development. Many clients have an idea of how they want to represent themselves or their business and I take it one step further and guide them to the best possible solution to meet their expectations while producing a good design. The second most common design is marketing collateral. This usually starts as a business card or a flyer but then morphs into future jobs as their needs grow. Soon brochures, postcards, rack cards and catalogs are needed. It is important that all the marketing pieces are unified in design to help promote the business image and brand.
