You Need to Read This
Have you ever gone to take guitar lessons from someone and all they want to teach you from is methods books to folk songs like: Home on the Range, Red River Valley, and Yellow Rose of Texas? It’s a good thing to learn if that’s what you want to learn. But is that what you want to learn? Notice in cases like this you were never asked what songs you want to play? What would it feel like to you if the teacher starts everyone off who is learning to play guitar with a cookie cutter approach learning the same material regardless of what the students goals are? And when it comes to how to learn to play guitar, do students really need something cookie cutter or something customized?

If you were to Take guitar Lessons from someone else, unfortunately, you could pay much, much, much, more, more, more, as much more as $65/hour from other guitarists. And unhappily, many professionals charge much, much, more, as much more as $50/hour. It’s obviously, more economical to take lessons From Me, $40 for an hour, $25 for a half-hour, and you choose what you want to get out of your guitar lessons with me. A. I teach my students to play to songs that they want to learn rather than working from a particular curriculum. I customize each lesson to fit what the student wants to get out of their guitar lessons. Students who take lessons from me are more likely to get what they want out of their guitar lessons than taking lessons from someone else. I also provide a practice plan to insure they are the most productive in practicing the things that will cause them to hit their goals.
A. I love teaching students and seeing them progress. It's fun to watch the student to go from knowing little to nothing and then see them playing songs they love to play.
A. I had a couple of students who came to me for guitar lessons. They told me they loved taking lessons from me and that I had changed their whole paradigm of what it means to play guitar and opened up a whole new range of possibilities they did not have before coming to me.
A. Probably my greatest strength as a teacher is my ability to explain the material covered in simple terms to the student.
A. Where did you study guitar?
I studied guitar at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU), which has one of the best music schools in the region and has been ranked in the top 3 best schools in that region by U.S. News and World Report for about 10 consecutive years. In addition to my studies at OBU, I have taken private lessons for over 10 years from different instructors, one of which toured with Van Halen for a while. I have been playing guitar for 20 years now. I started playing at age 7.
