FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our therapists are required to take at least 20 hours or more of continuing education each year. In other words, they didn't just get out of school and never grow anymore from there. Our therapists are involved with the American Counseling Association and the National Association for Social Work, among other organizations.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most commonly, we find that clients are "stuck" at some point in their lives. The problem isn't so much that they don't know "how" to move forward, but that they "can't." We help clients figure out why they're stuck, and then to determine whether they're willing to move forward - these are important pieces that are often overlooked by well-meaning family and friends who are quick to advice-give.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When people buy a car, they test drive a few at minimum before making a decision. If you've been test-driving therapists but still haven't found a fit, don't feel badly about leaving and trying again. Clients very quickly start to feel some sense of allegiance to therapists, even when things aren't going well in therapy. It's one thing to stick around because your therapist is simply challenging you and you're growing - that's healthy! It's another thing when there is a clear difference in personality and ability to connect. Move on - a good therapist will understand!
