I believe, if done correctly, Massage Therapy's main benefit is pain relief. I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist for the past nine years, and currently, I am a Massage Therapy Instructor and have been licensed both in the state of Missouri and Florida.

I have worked with some of the top orthopedic medicine doctors, as well as chiropractors, in which I worked as a Massage Therapist and Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Tech.

All massages use a body contour pillow to take the pressure off of your chest and spine. Rates start as low as $35 an hour. Call for details. In the Grasso Plaza in Affton

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. There are over 150 different massage styles. It is important to choose the right therapist and background to suit your needs.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Client comfort and care hold the up most importance. Spending time and educating the client should be mandatory. It is not about getting a client out of the room for the next person. I believe the number one reason people have bad massages is the lack of listening to the client. Therapists say they charge more for a deep tissue massage because they are working harder. This is untrue. The therapist uses their body mechanics to apply pressure not their arm muscles.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long the therapist has been LICENSED (not in the field)
ask the therapist SPECIFIC questions about how to better themselves.
ask yourself if the therapist answered all your questions about what you were expecting out of the massage before you get on the table such as goal for the session, pressure, medications, diagnoses past surgeries and injuries and discussed them with you to make sure you get the best possible treatment

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. There are many conditions in which massage may not beneficial for everyone. It is important to tell the therapist everything on your health history form no matter how insignificant you might think it is

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What can I do to stop this pain from resurfacing

What can I do for myself between treatments

What is the best massage for my conditions

What will happen after my massage

How do I know what is the best style of massage for me

All of the answers to these questions are variable dependent upon what the person is looking for and what their health history tells me
