FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Because I train small groups rather than one-on-one sessions, I can keep my classes extremely affordable. The price structure works well to keep gals committed to their workouts. The session prices are based on 12 classes that my clients must complete within the month (three classes a week). The first month my clients pay a starting package price. Once they complete all their sessions for that month, the price is reduced by half. After they complete their next month, the price drops down again and stays there as long as the client keeps training. (Clients who drop out of the class but then want to come back must pay the full start-up price again.)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Interested clients are encouraged to come to my studio and audit a class for free so they may meet the other ladies in the class and get a feel of the workouts. I also have my free Saturday fitness sessions in the park outside my door on non-rainy mornings if they care to try out a class (or two or three...) with any of their friends in an outdoor setting. Once a gal decides she wants to take the classes, I start them off very slowly at their own level, modifying their workouts so that they get as much out of the workout as they can and still be able to keep up with the other ladies at their own pace. All my other clients have been through their own 'first-day fears,' and they all respect the trepidation that newcomers have about stepping into a new fitness class with a trainer they don't know and a roomful of ladies they may have never met. But within minutes, new gals find my classes a completely comfortable environment and the other ladies in class a wonderful group of supportive and encouraging women.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a trained modern and jazz dancer and turned professional in my teens. I traveled the world with my dance troupe, well into my forties. (See 'How Did You Get Started Doing This Kind Of Work' (below.) Because I wanted to keep up my endurance and my strength for the constant wear-down of the road, I took private classes from a personal fitness trainer until I decided to become certified myself. All my professional dance training, fitness training, teaching skills (I was a part-time English teacher for many years), and years of constant motion, work and energy have gone into my teaching methods, and they have also served me well body and health-wise. At the time of this edit, I am almost 57-years-old and have the energy, body and bone-mass of a twenty-something.
