FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard pricing is $300 for a family session which includes the sitting fee, images edited and delivered by digital download or DVD. It includes the time behind the camera and on the computer editing all the photos I take to give each client a customized session. If there is a different service such as weddings, head shots, or just something other than a portrait session I will then discuss pricing with that particular client. Also when I got into doing this on the side I really tried to stay in the affordable range and am willing to work with those who really would love a family portrait but simply doesn't have the funds to do so. I truly feel this was my calling.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
4 years bachelor degree from Mizzou in communications with photojournalism minor. I've worked in the industry in some way or another since i graduated in 2004. I traveled for a while photographing for Dance competitions. When I began to settle down I got into the Senior portrait sector and became a digital editor for Prestige Portraits editing sports candids and photographing high school sports. Since then I work for Inter-State Studio cutting green screen and taking 4 images and turn it into a "traditional" basic senior session with different backgrounds and cropping. This job has allowed me to expand my photography business and really focus on families and delivering an affordable product for my client.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always had a love for documenting the things that were going on in my life and the people around me. From my first photography class in high school to my last class in college I just knew that this was what I was meant to do. Everyone always had memories to look back on and that is when I knew this is what I was meant to do with my life.
