FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Needs too much explanation...how many cameras, how much before and after video you want for the wedding, interviews? etc. It's all affordable but needs to be discussed before I know what the expectations of the clients are...and how much I'm going out on a limb to promise them, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Don't need to. I just keep working and I know what's good and what's bad and I could articulate that to the average person. Most videographers couldn't.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I wanted to be a tv news reporter initially with no interest in shooting my own stories. But after a couple years of doing it...I started to love the challenge of trying to make my story as interesting/visually appealing as possible. When I got to my third professional job I was offered to have young, inexperienced videographers shoot my stories and it didn't take long for me to realize that I didn't want to spend all that extra time teaching people/coaching people how to get the right video. Most of what other people shot was very amateurish, so I just decided to keep shooting my own stories. Best decision I ever made during my 10 year tv news career.
