Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. We do a full spectrum. No job is ever the same. One day I'm on a vinyl job. The next day I'm doing a custom hardwood job. The next I am framing up a tub deck for a custom ceramic job.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Don't always go with the cheapest bid. Check the BBB. Make sure the contractor is liscenced and insured. Make sure they look you in the eye when they are giving you a price. Check for fine print on installation guarantees, and always ask for reffences at least 10 if you can. Most people don't have that many friends and family members to lie for them.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Laminate isn't always less expensive than hardwood. Sometimes to put laminate in a home it takes extensive floor preparation. Sometimes this cost makes a laminate job cost exceed that of real hardwood.
Carpet that is made from polyester is cheaper than nylon. Companies pass polyester off as good carpet to the customer because it looks nice and there are higher profit margins on this material. Don't be fooled. Make sure the apples are apples not oranges.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. What materials are they looking for. Room demensions help to give price points in the store. The more accurate your measurements and diagrams the more accurate we can be with your initial estimate.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. We give your job the full attention it deserves. Once we start a job we finish it. We take care of all details from trims to transitions. We are professional with a personal touch. We meet or exceed any manufacture guidelines concerning materials. We are also a full service remodeler so we can do virtually anything that needs to be done in your home.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love to be hands on. On custom work you can almost feel like an artist; from design to implementation.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Q: What would you suggest wood or laminate? A: Well that depends on several things: do you have children and animals, condition of substrate, what area of the house it is in. We tailor fit a floor to meet your needs.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. I have a big heart and I have the desire to my best quality for every customer we do work for, and I don't just give lipservice I follow through with my word.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. We did a big project of running vinyl that looked like hardwood throughout an entire home. Normally I would not suggest this, but it met the customers need. The job turned out phenominally, and the customer treats us like old friends and are so happy with their new beautiful home.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I go to any seminar given by the carpet mills. I have completed my INSTALL accredidation. We also are recognized as one of the top installation companies in St. Louis by many of the distributors, stores, and mills.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. Lately the trends are in Luxury Vinyl Tile, they have many styles to choose from.(ceramic/ hardwood) They are very durable, and many of them are easy enough for customer installation. Many can be grouted just like ceramics.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. All of pricing is on our webpage @ Limaflooring.com
