Math & Life Science Tutor

My career spanned 20 years as a research analyst in molecular biology and genetics for both Johns Hopkins Medical School and Duke University Medical Center.

I am very patient and enjoy working with teens and adults, especially those with ADD, ADHD and dyslexia. My tutoring style is to work with the student at their level and try to discover what is hindering their understanding of the topic. Many of my students are weak in simple addition, subtraction and multiplication and as a result, math in general is very tiring and tedious for them. This problem also becomes magnified when they are in algebra and beyond. In order to facilitate the memorization of math facts and the rules for operations using positive and negative signs, I encourage them to work out simple computations on paper rather than use a calculator.
