I recently had the opportunity to work with a singer, as producer, at the Red Door Recording Studio in Columbus, NC. The studio is owned and engineered by Vinny Corda - musician, composer, recording engineer, and computer whiz, among many other accomplishments. He is also a great guy.
The studio was designed and built by Vinny, who wanted to put everything in it that he was looking for in other studios. That he succeeded is evident in the quality of the sound.
The whole experience, from recording to laying tracks, to the engineering that is part of the process - from beginning to end, the atmosphere was relaxed, yet focused. It was all-business and all fun.
The singer and I had expected to need more hours than we actually used, saving hours of time and money because of the efficiency of the recording process..
I have been looking for a recording studio home. Red Door Recording Studio is the one I hope to call home for many years of recording..

Had a great experience recording with Vinnie at Red Door, so good, in fact that it prompted me to kick off a major recording project around the country with many musical friends. I hadn't been in the studio in a very long time when I went to Red Door, which is hidden away on the lower level of Vinnie's home and is situated a beautiful backwood setting. RD is a small facility but with good equipment and Vinnie has a good command of ProTools both during the recording process and when mixing. And if you need side musicians to fill out your sound, he has a network of players who are very talented, whom he can call in to collaborate with you, and he himself is a skilled sax player - baritone especially.
In short, if you want to feel really comfortable recording your material, lay down demos, do some focused solo work, or create music live with just one or two other players, and you want to have someone at the board with skilled hands, good ears, plenty of patience, and good suggestions when you need them, Vinnie and his compact set up at Red Door are a really good choice.

Vinny is a kind, patient, and knowledgeable studio manager. I came in with a few songs that I wanted recorded for a demo, and he gave me some great pointers and helped me to get everything done smoothly, quickly, and at a very reasonable cost.

As a New York City based performing artist, I've been in a ton of recording studios, Vinny is a consummate professional and provides a stress free recording environment with top notch mics and equipment.
