My name is Sarah McGraw, and I create modern images for posh pets. I specialize in fresh, fun, candid-style dog, cat, horse and pet portraits both on location and in-studio.
I believe that every pet owner should have at least one stunning and professional portrait of their furry friend to cherish forever.
A. Most of my sessions take place on-location, meaning at your home, a park, on a walk, you name it! Parks tend to be most popular but I'm always up for finding a cool urban setting and making some neat contemporary images.
A. The most important advice is to make sure you love their work! Check out their website, read their blog, and make sure their style fits what you are looking for. Pricing is secondary when it comes to treasured artwork of your beloved pet.
Also, make sure they specialize in pet photography. This genre requires a special knack for knowing how to make an animal feel comfortable in front of the camera.
A. As far as portraiture goes, pets is all I do! I'm not a jack of all trades which really allows me to focus and learn the tricky craft of pet photography. I know how to work with your pet and how to make their personalities shine through in a photograph.
A. Number one is that I get to work with some amazing animals. Secondly, I get to work with some amazing animal lovers! Thirdly, and most satisfying, I get to leave my clients with gorgeous images that they will get to cherish for years.
A. They say the best way to learn is to practice! I always have my camera handy to shoot anything. Even if I'm not practicing on pets, knowing and learning your equipment is key. Beyond practice, I'm always reading up on new techniques, studying inspiring images, and spending as much time with animals as possible.
A. My dog is crazy/shy/nervous. Will you be able to get photos of them?
Absolutely! That's the great thing about knowing animals. It may take some time, patience, and lots of toys and treats but I can always get some great shots!
