Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look for someone who is professional and knowledgable. There are many different levels of massage therapy training. We are all required to have 500 hours in order to be liscensed. Look for a professional who has advanced certifications such as Pregnancy Certification, Neuromuscular Therapy, Active Release and more!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I wish more people understood the differnece between Spa Massage and Clinical Massage Therapy. Clinical Massage therapy can be as beneficial as physical therapy and/or chiropractic care. The primary goal is pain mangment WITHOUT medication. As our profession advances we have become more of a healthcare profession rather than a luxury service.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask a potential therapist about their education and experience. Also ask about what modalities they specialize in. A client who is looking for a relaxing spa massage may not enjoy a massage from a therapist who specializes in Active Release or Neuromuscular therapy. The same applys for a client who is looking for relief for pain from a specific injury. A new therapist, who is only trained in a spa-focused style probably won't be able to give the client the relief that they are looking for.
